The Comparison Game {and Why it’s So Overrated}

The Comparison Game {and Why it’s So Overrated}

I spent most of my adolescent years aching to be someone else.  Any body else. And while I can say that I’ve finally learned to embrace the quirky, awkwardly transparent, people-loving introvert I’ve grown into, I still occasionally stumble into that place of longing for the ability to behave or perform or create like another. I often struggle with comparing… Read More

{Oh, Holy} Christmas Printable

{Oh, Holy} Christmas Printable

It is undeniably Winter in these parts; the days seem to be getting shorter and chillier by the minute, and the Christmas spirit is in full swing – although if we made that assessment based on when glittered holiday décor hit craft stores, we’d declare this in September. With the windows tightly closed and the woodstove fired up, we’ve been… Read More

10 Things We’ve Learned in 10 Years of Marriage

Tomorrow we will have officially been married for 87,360 hours. Also known as the less-enormous-sounding ‘10 years’ {insert wild applause here}. A whole decade, people. I know, right? Ten full years for wee punks like us. Who knew? No, we weren’t 14. We were 22 The past ten years have been the most beautiful, most excruciating, most awe-inspiring, most intense,… Read More

Sweet Girl {plus Printable}

Looking through photos from little Bean’s recital in June, I realized how much like a weed she has grown.  She’s looking less and less like a wee lass and more and more like a little lady every day. She’s blossoming and maturing, her cheeks and belly are losing their plumpness, and her little hands are losing their dimples.  Which makes… Read More

When You Feel Like A Train Wreck {Hope For The Weary Mom}

To the mom who is weary and overwhelmed, painfully aware of her short fuse and tired of the sound of her own voice… I get it. I’ve become really good at saying, “I’m sorry” since becoming a mom. Learn to embrace grace.  This is one of the most important things you can model for your children.   To the mom… Read More

The ‘Muy Bien’ Fund : Fundraising Printable {and how YOU can help}

So this week’s printable is a bit of an odd ball.  It involves a leg, money and language barriers. Let me explain. When we first moved to the US, I was a freshman in high school and had absolutely no grasp of the “Spanish” language.  After all, isn’t that what they speak in Spain?  And why on earth should I… Read More

Always Remember {4 Piece Printable}

I scored some lovely wooden frames a few months ago from the Michael’s clearance rack…the corners had begun to split slightly, so they were asking $1.99 from 19.99.  I’m quite sure I did a little jig right there in the aisle. Being the cheapskate I am, I snagged four of those suckers and headed straight for checkout with a satisfied… Read More

Getting My Craft On {plus a Printable}

We’re experiencing a little bit of an upside down empty nest over here.  My parents have just moved out of the man cave they’ve called home {aka. “the love shack”} for almost two years.  We miss them horribly already and it’s only been two weeks.  It’s quite pathetic, really. But because my husband is awesome, and because God knows I… Read More

Worship and lament were never meant to cancel each Worship and lament were never meant to cancel each other out.
They can — and often do — live side by side.
And the kind of worship that rises in the midst of pain
is a costly, sacred offering God treasures.

it’s remembering who God is, even when it isn’t.
It rarely changes our circumstances,
but it always changes our perspective.

What could shift in you
if you praised God for even one thing
you’ve been tempted to complain about?

🎙️ Episode 3 of Oh, Good Grief | The Podcast is live.

In this week’s episode, The Sound of Surrender, we’re talking about what happens when we worship through the wilderness, and the way gratitude reshapes our view of God, of ourselves, and of the desert we’re walking through.

God is never careless with the pruning knife. If H God is never careless with the pruning knife.
If He allows something to fall away, we can trust His heart,
that it is ultimately for our good,
and for His glory.

Sometimes God prunes what is still alive. Not beca Sometimes God prunes what is still alive.
Not because He is cruel, but because He is kind.

It’s unbelievably hard to walk away from something that was once deeply fruitful. But when a season ends and God lifts His grace from that role, relationship, or project, lingering often hurts far more than leaving.

Trust His heart for you in the pruning. 🌱
He cuts with purpose, and always with love.

I stumbled across the word I chose and lettered fo I stumbled across the word I chose and lettered for 2023. Held. I thought it might reopen old ache. Instead, it reminded me of the deeper song beneath our hardest seasons: even in the unraveling, we were held.

And as a new year unfolds, that truth feels like a steadying hand.

Here’s to beginnings that hum with mercy...
sunrises, blankets of white snow,
seasons turning quietly toward hope.

Dream bravely.
Plan loosely.
Take the next small step.
Try again.

Be tender with yourself.
Honor the slow work of becoming.
And step into this year knowing—
you are held.
As we stand on the edge of a new year, remember th As we stand on the edge of a new year, remember this:
God doesn’t prune to prove a point;
He prunes to produce fruit.

Trust the precision and the heart
of the Master Gardener.

What felt like loss this past year
may have been His clearing away of the old
to make room for the new.
