Coaching & Consulting

Whether you’re launching a new business

…writing your first book

…preparing for a keynote

…wanting to work on your marriage

…searching for a deeper spiritual connection

…or simply wanting to get unstuck,

you don’t have to do it alone.

LINKING ARMS WITH A COACH & CONSULTANT CAN MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SURVIVING AND THRIVING, STAYING STUCK OR BREAKING THROUGH.

Part mentor, part cheerleader, and part hard-question-asker, Joy is passionate about working with dreamers, doers, budding entrepreneurs & indie authors.

What makes coaching different?

You, and only you, are the expert on your life – the dreams & passions, the struggles & concerns.  Only you know what you’re facing, and what you need, and only you can do what it takes to become the person you were created to be.

Every person has the answers to their heart’s cry deep within, and it’s my job as your coach to help you reach into those deep places and draw them out.

I firmly believe that God has deposited “gold” (a dream or life-purpose that utilizes your unique set of skills, gifts and talents) within every single one of us.  But the process of getting it to the surface can feel overwhelming, if not impossible, at times.  This is where the coaching partnership comes in.  We create a partnership where you are the expert on your unique life, and I am the expert in the coaching process.

In other words, I help you ‘mine your gold’.

What is the difference between consulting and coaching, and how can they work together?

Newsweek describes life coaching as “part consultant, part motivational speaker, part therapist and part rent-a-friend, coaches work with managers, entrepreneurs, and just plain folks, helping them define and achieve their goals — career, personal, or most often, both”

So what is the difference?  Well, this is a great question because it’s the distinction between these roles that makes all the difference.

Consultants are typically experts in their field, they bring their wisdom, resources and experience to the table and download their expertise to their clients.

Coaches draw out the wisdom and knowledge already in their clients, helping to create an action plan with clarity, focus and accountability in order to help them move forward.

Consulting tends to function as an ‘outside-in’ process, while coaching assumes an ‘inside-out’ approach.

JOY MARRIES THE POWER OF COACHING & CONSULTING TO BRING YOU THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

Easter reminds us that the tomb is empty. But befo Easter reminds us that the tomb is empty.
But before the resurrection, there was a towel.

In John 13, just hours before the cross,
Jesus doesn’t assert power, He kneels.
He washes the feet of Peter.
He washes the feet of Judas.
He loves them to the end.

🎙️ Episode 017 | The Jesus Way is live.

What does it look like to choose love in the middle
of betrayal, grief, disagreement, and struggle?
The way of Jesus isn’t flashy.
 It’s faithful.

So very thankful for the life that came from his d So very thankful for the life
that came from his death.

May you know how wildly, wholly
and wonderfully you are loved…

“This is how much God loved the world:
He gave his Son, his one and only Son.
And this is why: so that no one need be
destroyed; by believing in him, anyone
can have a whole and lasting life.
God didn’t go to all the trouble of
sending his Son merely to point an
accusing finger, telling the world
how bad it was. He came to help,
to put the world right again.”

Boundaries are not the opposite of love. They are Boundaries are not the opposite of love.
They are often the evidence of it.

Jesus touched lepers.
He wept with friends.
He restored the broken.

But He also corrected boldly.
He withdrew intentionally.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.

You can forgive someone
without restoring immediate proximity.
You can love someone
without giving them full access to your life.

Love does not require unlimited access. In Episod Love does not require unlimited access.

In Episode 016 of Oh, Good Grief, we explore what Jesus
actually modeled when it comes to boundaries.

He loved everyone.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.
He was full of grace and truth.
He welcomed the crowds, but confided in the few.

In a world that demands access to our time, energy, and heart, this episode unpacks what it looks like to forgive without naivety, love without losing discernment, and practice grace with guardrails.

Healing after betrayal isn’t linear. It’s messy. Healing after betrayal isn’t linear.

It’s messy.
It’s exhausting.
And sometimes it feels impossible.

In this conversation, Lisa Devine shares what it actually looked like to rebuild a marriage after infidelity: the boundaries, the brutal honesty, the forgiveness that had to be chosen again and again.

But more than anything,
it’s a story about the quiet ways God shows up
when everything feels shattered.
