Butter Chicken {from Heaven}

I’m on a cumin kick right now.  I used to think it was exclusively a White Chicken Chili seasoning {smashing recipe to come as the temperate drops}, and just didn’t realize how much I loved it until a friend suggested I toss some in my hummus.  Woah nelly. I’m sold.  I’m hooked.  I’m slowly cumin to my senses. So starry-eyed… Read More

Brigadeiro {yum yum}

I was thinking about one of my younger sisters. I’ve got three words for you… easy.  decadent.  gorgeous. What more could you possibly want in life?  I mean seriously. What was I saying?  Oh, yes.  I’ve been thinking about my sis…and the gorgeous little balls of chocolatey deliciousness she brought to our older sister’s baby shower a while back. {What… Read More

Hearty ‘Tater Soup

As you may recall, we have an awful lot of spuds around here. Two studs. Lots of spuds. So it’s only natural that a soup lovin’ girl throws them in a pot and makes comfort food from a bunch of ‘em, right? I thought so. Besides, anything with bacon is comfort food.  Oh, and cream cheese.  Cream cheese rocks my… Read More

Butternut Bliss {in a Bowl}

I’m slightly attached to October.  And I must admit, I’m not quite ready to let her go.  October spells Autumn in all her kaleidoscopic glory, marital celebration in all it’s annual bliss, jeans ‘n socks in all their hairy-leg-shrouding convenience, and…well, November is just too close to December. And to say I’m not ready for Christmas – despite my utter… Read More

The Glorious Morning of Muffins

Because I’m addicted to muffins I wanted you to really be able to visualize the magnificence that is the Morning Glory Muffin, I’m doing somewhat of a repeat post. Aren’t I so thoughtful?  You don’t answer that.  Really. I shared this {favorite} recipe in June, but for some unknown reason only had phone-camera photos to share with you, which fall… Read More

Autumn Kissed Tilapia

The air is crisp, the leaves are every shade of awesome, and the sun continues to warmly kiss our cheeks.  Autumn glamour meets Indian Summer simplicity. I’m in! What’s a girl to cook when citrus hues are the color of choice, clean and crisp is the mode, and the gloriously stubborn summer sun refuses to fully release her grasp? Why,… Read More

Because You Can’t Live Without This

If you expected this to be a deeply spiritual post…I’m sorry to disappoint you. But I would like to fatten you up! Sort of. It’s about fudge. And it’ll rock your world.  So I guess it is deeply spiritual in an unorthodox sort of way.  At least that’s what it does to me.  It makes me thankful to be alive. … Read More

Pasta with Vodka-Cream Sauce

Goodness gracious me.  I’m in love.  With a sauce.  That just happens to have an awful lot of vodka and heavy whipping cream in it. Scandalous, I know. Get over it.  It’s that good. I made this for my sweet {non-meat-eating} sister last week when she came over to hang out with me {and ended up helping me dig up… Read More

Going Tropical One Last Time

As the warm days of summer begin to fade and the chilly Autumn breeze stirs up thoughts of hot cider and pumpkin pie…I’m in denial over here in my deck chair, thinking happy thoughts of Key Lime Pie and Pina Colada Fruit Dip. *Notice I said “thinking”…not “eating”.  Both were fixed for our birthday bash in August – before my… Read More

Broken vessels still pour. Broken vessels still pour.
Worship and lament were never meant to cancel each Worship and lament were never meant to cancel each other out.
They can — and often do — live side by side.
And the kind of worship that rises in the midst of pain
is a costly, sacred offering God treasures.

Praise isn’t pretending everything is fine, it’s r Praise isn’t pretending everything is fine,
it’s remembering who God is, even when it isn’t.
It rarely changes our circumstances,
but it always changes our perspective.

What could shift in you
if you praised God for even one thing
you’ve been tempted to complain about?

🎙️ Episode 3 of Oh, Good Grief | The Podcast is live.

In this week’s episode, The Sound of Surrender, we’re talking about what happens when we worship through the wilderness, and the way gratitude reshapes our view of God, of ourselves, and of the desert we’re walking through.

God is never careless with the pruning knife. If H God is never careless with the pruning knife.
If He allows something to fall away, we can trust His heart,
that it is ultimately for our good,
and for His glory.

Sometimes God prunes what is still alive. Not beca Sometimes God prunes what is still alive.
Not because He is cruel, but because He is kind.

It’s unbelievably hard to walk away from something that was once deeply fruitful. But when a season ends and God lifts His grace from that role, relationship, or project, lingering often hurts far more than leaving.

Trust His heart for you in the pruning. 🌱
He cuts with purpose, and always with love.

I stumbled across the word I chose and lettered fo I stumbled across the word I chose and lettered for 2023. Held. I thought it might reopen old ache. Instead, it reminded me of the deeper song beneath our hardest seasons: even in the unraveling, we were held.

And as a new year unfolds, that truth feels like a steadying hand.

Here’s to beginnings that hum with mercy...
sunrises, blankets of white snow,
seasons turning quietly toward hope.

Dream bravely.
Plan loosely.
Take the next small step.
Try again.

Be tender with yourself.
Honor the slow work of becoming.
And step into this year knowing—
you are held.
As we stand on the edge of a new year, remember th As we stand on the edge of a new year, remember this:
God doesn’t prune to prove a point;
He prunes to produce fruit.

Trust the precision and the heart
of the Master Gardener.

What felt like loss this past year
may have been His clearing away of the old
to make room for the new.
