Pallet & Paint Projects

I’ve had this gorgeous bouquet of pallet wood sitting in my studio for months now, with little to no desire to play with it.

Occasionally I walk in to find more piled up in my entranceway.  because my husband loves me, what can I say?  Is raw project material a possible 6th love language?

I went on a pallet dismantling frenzy last summer, inspired by the plethora of pallet projects on Pinterest, piling up planks for future projects…and then promptly forgot about them.

Yes, there were an abundance of ‘p’s in that last sentence.  I loved every one.

Maybe I was too exhausted to be creative after ripping and pulling and hammering and snipping and kicking and well, everything else involved in pulling pallets apart.  But watch out world, I have since discovered the magic of the jig saw.  Dude.  That little sucker gets the job done!

So, I wanted to give you a sneak peek into my studio and show you some of the projects I’ve been playing with – specifically around pallets and paint.  I’ve also discovered a recent mason jar, gold & glitter addiction that I’ve been feeding on occasion.  I’m getting help.

Check it out…

PALLETS-AND-GLITTER

Aren’t they delightful?!  I’m just smitten with these projects and tchotchkes.

There’s that copper globe thing up there (top center, by the bird cages) that I purchased from my mom’s garage sale, which she acquired from my sister.  We apparently like to keep things in the family.

And the mason jar project below. I simply taped and painted the jars, then roughed them up a little (with a nail file) and mounted them to a small chunk of pallet wood with hose clamps.  pallets-20-2

You could plant herbs in these bad boys and mount the plank to your kitchen wall, or you could pop makeup brushes and tooth brushes in them and mount them to your bathroom wall.  Fresh flowers, silverware…gosh, the options are endless.

Paint them whatever color your heart desires and stick ‘em up somewhere!

And then there’s this little paint and string art project on the gallery wall (that’s been reworked several times in the past few weeks)…

And yes, that fabulous little blue sign on the wall actually lights up!  I found it a couple of weeks ago on clearance at Meijer.  Yeah baby!

I’ve also painted and glittered several mason jars for potted succulents and to hold pens on my desk (see collage above).  I am loving the fine Martha Stewart glitter!

And then there’s THIS!

Swoon.

I saw a fantastic little table at a women’s conference a few weeks ago – black metal base with reclaimed wood top – and I fell in love!  And then I remembered this ugly, rusty little coffee table frame we got when we first got married (literally a dozen years ago) and I’ve been trying to palm it off on people for years.  No one wants it.

Could have something to do with the gross glass surface that usually sits on top.  So I whipped that baby off, spray painted it, and had my rockstar hubby help me put together 3 pieces of pallet wood (cut in half) for a tabletop.

I absolutely adore this little table now.  It’s graduated from outside in the backyard beside the shed to the seating area in front of my fire.

Yes, clearly, I’m fickle.

But that’s another post for another day.

And there you have it, friends…snap shots of the fun I’ve been having with pallet wood, paint and glitter.

Whoop whoop.

Sometimes God prunes what is still alive. Not beca Sometimes God prunes what is still alive.
Not because He is cruel, but because He is kind.

It’s unbelievably hard to walk away from something that was once deeply fruitful. But when a season ends and God lifts His grace from that role, relationship, or project, lingering often hurts far more than leaving.

Trust His heart for you in the pruning. 🌱
He cuts with purpose, and always with love.

I stumbled across the word I chose and lettered fo I stumbled across the word I chose and lettered for 2023. Held. I thought it might reopen old ache. Instead, it reminded me of the deeper song beneath our hardest seasons: even in the unraveling, we were held.

And as a new year unfolds, that truth feels like a steadying hand.

Here’s to beginnings that hum with mercy...
sunrises, blankets of white snow,
seasons turning quietly toward hope.

Dream bravely.
Plan loosely.
Take the next small step.
Try again.

Be tender with yourself.
Honor the slow work of becoming.
And step into this year knowing—
you are held.

to make room for the new.
