The Fabulously Easy Christmas Centerpiece

Christmas Centerpiece Trio

I love an eye-catching, colorful centerpiece on my table.

I especially love one that is fun and easy to throw together!

Enter: the jazzed up poinsettia!

All you need is:

      • A poinsettia plant {or really any plant with large blossoms will do; think hydrangea, peonies or azalea for garden party arrangements}
      • Floral Wire, or several large paperclips
      • Florists tape, or any really sticky tape will do the trick {duct tape}
      • Small ornaments or Christmas bulbs {get creative here}
      • Aluminum Floral wire, or any other thick, colorful, bendable wire
      • A glass vase, teapot, or other fun container
      • Pretty ribbon, the thicker the better
      • Aquafoam {floral foam}, to secure your arrangement

{all supplies are available at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc.}

Christmas Centerpiece

Start by cutting your floral foam to size {to fit the vase you have chosen} and soak it in plenty of water.

Then start attaching the wire to the ornaments with tape {first wrap the wire around the bulb’s “hoop” and twist tightly to secure}.

Then cut, twist and twirl long pieces of floral wire into fun Dr. Seuss inspired squiggles.

Christmas Centerpiece 4

Wrap your vase with ribbon, securing with tape or glue…or simply tie a bow.

Cut off blossoms keeping stems long, pulling off all lower leaves {burn the exposed tips with a lighter if you don’t want the milky substance inside the poinsettia to discolor your water} and insert into the foam.

Insert the ornaments in random places, along with your fabulous curly wire.

Be sure to have loads of fun doing this, stopping randomly to soak in the deliciousness of the moment.

 Christmas Centerpiece 5

Stand back and admire your masterpiece.

{ooooh.  aaaaah}

Then go put the kettle on and drink a cup of tea.

Then shame convinces us to hide.

But God’s first response to human failure wasn’t condemnation.
It was a question: "Where are you?"
Not because He didn’t know.
But because healing requires that we name where we are,
and freedom comes as we choose to bravely step out of hiding.
