Hormones, Crafts & Snow {this week, in no particular order)

Firstly, the blah: I’ve been having hot flashes lately {ugh!}.  And then I left the house in my slippers {yikes}.  For 6 hours {gasp}.  I think I’m getting old. I haven’t written anything of substance for the past few weeks.  There only seems time and mental energy for drivel.  Forgive me.  Contemplative and encouraging text […]

April Desktop Wallpaper

The snow that has blanketed our back yard for the past week is {finally} starting to melt and I am practically giddy at the fact that April has arrived. While March boasts the first “official” day of Spring…April holds a considerably larger proportion of warm days to chilly.  And that makes my heart sing! Bring […]

My Big {American} Day

To say this whole {lengthily & expensive} Naturalization process has been a blur… would be incorrect.  Only the above {rather important, once-in-a-lifetime} photo op was.  Ahem. I recall each step with crystal-clear, vivid detail. Armed with precious bands and beads – the silver band, engraved with my name, given to me in Namibia by my […]

I Think My Son Ate Connecticut

This morning is a big one for me.  I’m officially being sworn in as an American citizen {photos to come!}. In an effort to brush up on my geography, I broke out my daughter’s Dollar Store puzzle.  Why I bought this thing for a 3 year old, I have no idea.  I had to break […]

52 Little Lines with Big Benefits

The weight of our words carry the very power of life and death in their grasp. We have the ability to make or break the little lives that have been entrusted to us. But sadly, and too often, hurtful, thoughtless, harsh words tumble from my lips.  And sure enough, it is my precious children who […]

{Slater’s} Turkey & Black Bean Burritos

If you’re a child of the 80’s, you’ll no doubt recall the drool-worthy A.C. Slater from Saved by the Bell. Well, I sort of had a crush on him when I was an awkward, pubescent adolescent.  So, naturally, when I see a little blurb in my Good Housekeeping magazine entitled, “Mario Lopez’s Turkey & Black […]

How I Know God Loves Me, Reason# 3,257

Because I have ridiculously wonderful friends who love on me so thoroughly and extravagantly {and who are wildly fluent at speaking my love language}, and who – just this afternoon, over a playdate at McDonalds – celebrated my upcoming citizenship transition. Gorgeously aromatic blooms, in red, white and blue…handmade red and blue bracelets…an American flag…and […]

Week One, Done

I survived completed my first week of my battle plan. My living room/office was first on the list…and it’s looking deliciously organized and uncluttered.  I have yet to delve into the kids toy chest, but it’ll happen soon {stealthily, while we play, I’ll be off-loading things into a Goodwill box and garbage bags.  Mwah ha […]

Insalata Tuscana: Our Blend

We love us some balsamic vinegar; be it in dressing form {my hubby makes a mean homemade version} or glaze consistency. And it just so happens that I am on a bean kick right now {in an effort to eat better, on a budget, and consume less meat in the process}. The marriage of the […]

The enemy may wound. But he doesn't get to write t The enemy may wound.
But he doesn't get to write the ending.

Morgan's story includes abuse, betrayal, fear, and years of healing.

Yet today she spends her life loving vulnerable children, opening her home to foster kids, and building a family rooted in grace.

What could have broken her became
the very place God planted compassion.
That's redemption.
Not erasing the wound.
Not pretending it didn't happen.

But allowing God to grow something beautiful from what was meant to destroy.

Some stories are painful to tell. And some stories Some stories are painful to tell.
And some stories need to be told anyway.

This week on Oh, Good Grief, I'm joined by the lovely Morgan Brailley, a survivor, foster mama, adoptive mom, and living testimony to God's redemptive love.

Morgan shares her journey through abuse, trauma, healing, foster care, and the unexpected ways God can bring beauty from the deepest wounds.

This conversation is honest.
Tender. Hard.
And full of hope.

Because trauma may shape us,
but it does not get the final word.

Grace and truth were never enemies in the life of Grace and truth
were never enemies in the life of Jesus.

He told the woman caught in adultery:
“Neither do I condemn you…
go and leave your life of sin.”

Mercy.
And honesty.
Together.

This week’s episode is about the rocks we carry—the anger, bitterness, judgment, and wounds we keep rehearsing long after the moment has passed.

Because sometimes the thing crushing our soul…
is the stone we refuse to put down.

Some wounds don’t leave us angry because they were Some wounds don’t leave us angry
because they were the worst thing that happened to us.
Sometimes they stay because they were the moment someone
stood close enough to see our pain… and still did nothing.

This week on the podcast, I’m talking about the rocks we carry—judgment, resentment, bitterness, offense—and the quiet ways they shape our souls over time.

This episode is deeply personal. Tender. Honest.

“Healing isn’t pretending it didn’t hurt. It’s ref “Healing isn’t pretending it didn’t hurt.
It’s refusing to let the wound become your identity.”

This week on the podcast, Dr. Ansonya Burke and I talk about forgiveness, leadership, emotional healing, and the sacred process of becoming whole after hard seasons.

There’s so much wisdom in this one.
Especially for the people quietly carrying more than anyone knows.

Some relationships fracture.
Some seasons unravel us completely.

But grace still has a way of writing beautiful endings.

In this deeply honest conversation, my dear friend Dr. Ansonya Burke shares about healing, forgiveness, wholeness, and learning how to release what no longer belongs in your hands.

This episode is tender, wise, and full of the kind of truth that only comes from walking through fire and finding God faithful in it.
