The Story of Us

If you’ve sat in our living room and looked out our bay window, you have most likely spotted them; 3 exquisitely unique sculptures that tell the story of “us”. Meticulously crafted from chucks of black soapstone and serpentine, and gathered from 3 completely different places at different stages of our journey, these sculptures depict the […]

Love, Marriage, The Kiddos

A Cider Mill Morning

We spent Saturday morning with a few of our favorite people, soaking up the sunshine at Uncle John’s Cider Mill. Where better to spend these final few days of gorgeous late-Summer-early-Autumn weather than here, sipping cider and eating donuts, playing, having a wagon ride and picking up pumpkins {not to mention my new, sweet little […]

Friendship, The Kiddos, Travels

I’m Sorta, Kinda Like A Pumpkin

Why?  Because God, in His relentless pursuit of my heart, plucked me up from the dry, dusty ground, took me in, and washed {okay, scrubbed} all the superficial junk off me.  I should note, however, that He is far from finished with this tedious crap-removal process. He then carefully cut my top off {sort of […]

The Wild, The Wacky, The Wonderful

…we got to experience it all at the Saginaw Zoo. Well, not all.  But you know, we worked through our disappointment {over no lions, or tigers, or bears…oh my}. What we did score out of the deal was a delicious morning of adventure with our new friends, a yummy picnic lunch, and 4 {relatively} well-behaved […]

Friendship, Motherhood, The Kiddos, Travels

Rrring Rrrring…

What might you be able to create from a random, cast-off chunk of wood found laying outside the man cave, you ask? {I know, you didn’t ask.  But work with me here} Why…a high-tech, state-of-the-art woodular phone, of course!     No matter how absorbed you may be in your coloring project, your pretty pink […]

The Kiddos

An Upgrade

We are LOVING our new home {that we waited patiently 6 months for} and are most definitely enjoying the gorgeous, colorful, Autumn-infused view from our kitchen/dining room/family room/deck {it’s pretty open plan…you get the idea}. It’s a far cry from our neighbor’s hot tub, which sat a mere 10 feet away from our little kitchen […]

Because You Can’t Live Without This

If you expected this to be a deeply spiritual post…I’m sorry to disappoint you. But I would like to fatten you up! Sort of. It’s about fudge. And it’ll rock your world.  So I guess it is deeply spiritual in an unorthodox sort of way.  At least that’s what it does to me.  It makes […]

The Man {before My Man}

I’ll just put it out there: my husband had some pretty big shoes to fill. Before he came along, I wasn’t sure I’d ever meet anyone quite like the man my mom had met 35+ years ago {who promptly asked her to marry him 4 days later}.  Sure, there are plenty of great guys out […]

Faith, Family

Creepstatic

Need a little help getting into the Autumn, er…Harvest mood? I’d be glad to assist you. Look what my dad found on the doorpost of their room out in the guest house {the bare-bones-living-space next to the ‘man cave’}:       I bet you’d be pumped to spend a weekend with us, out there? Hey.  […]

The Beauty of Being. Different.

“God designed each of us so there would be no duplication in the world. No one has the exact same mix of factors that make you unique. That means no one else on earth will ever be able to play the role God planned for you.” ~ The Purpose Driven Life

to release control over what others think, say, or do.
But freedom deepens when we also learn to let Him,
to trust God with what we were never meant to carry.

Beyond “Let Them” | A Deeper Invitation to Trust

We spend so much of life celebrating spring, the n We spend so much of life celebrating spring,
the new, the young, the beginning.

But autumn carries a glory of its own.

The turning leaves don’t apologize for their season.
They burn brighter because of it.

This is their Prime Time.

There is no expiration date on purpose.
No age limit on transformation.
No season where God stops inviting us deeper.

If there is breath in your lungs,
God is not done with you yet.

🎧 Hear more about my parents' Prime Time ministry,
inspired by the glory of the Autumn leaves, in episode 013 of

are not a winding down,
they are a rising up.

She chose courage when fear would have been easier.
Healing when hiding would have been safer.
Freedom when settling would have been quieter.

Some seasons ask more of us than we ever thought w Some seasons ask more of us than we ever thought we could give.

This week on Oh, Good Grief, my mom and I continue our conversation - this time about courage, caregiving, and walking through the wilderness of illness without losing hope.

We talk about my dad’s cancer, the sacred weight of loving someone through suffering, and the quiet strength that emerges when faith is no longer theoretical, it’s necessary.

There is a kind of courage that doesn’t look flashy.
It looks like staying. Trusting. Loving anyway.

someone refuse to stop growing.

My mom has spent her life pursuing freedom, truth,
and deeper intimacy with God - not perfectly, but faithfully.

She reminds me that formation doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens through ordinary days, unexpected detours,
and quiet obedience.

We don’t become who we’re meant to be overnight.
We become, slowly, as we trust Him with our story.

don’t just preach grace, they live it.

This week on Oh, Good Grief, I’m joined by my beautiful momma for Part 1 of a two-part conversation.

She has stood on stages, taught Scripture, and poured her life into others for decades - but more than anything, she has embodied a faith that keeps growing, keeps trusting, and keeps saying yes to God’s invitation into deeper freedom.

We talk about failure, formation, leaving home and finding it again,
and the quiet ways God builds a life across continents and decades.

Her story has shaped mine in more ways than I can count.

God delights in using the overlooked. The ordinary God delights in using the overlooked. The ordinary.
The ones who feel too fragile to carry anything valuable.

Pressed, but not crushed.
Perplexed, but not in despair.
Struck down, but not destroyed.

Because it has never been about the strength of the container.
It’s about the treasure inside.

God doesn’t wait for confidence.
He supplies presence.

Small. Simple. Not enough.

And Jesus multiplies it - enough to feed the masses.

God isn’t asking you to provide a banquet.
He’s asking you to bring what’s already in your hands.
