Come, Let Us Have Some Tea {Printable}

Come, Let Us Have Some Tea {Printable}

While snowmageddon appears to have passed, we’re still freezing our little heinies off up here in the Midwest.  Our remedy in the McMuffin household is to throw some more logs onto the fire, huddle a little closer, and pour ourselves another cup of tea. It’s called survival.  It also happens to be called liquid awesome. If you know me well… Read More

The Mudway Makeover

The Mudway Makeover

We rarely use our front door.  In fact, there is usually something large and obnoxious right in front of the door in the ‘formal’ entrance cove which makes it impossible to open.  Like my keyboard…the acoustics in that little nook are spectacular! The most used entrances to our house are through our back deck door and through the garage –… Read More

Mantacular Homemade Granola Bars {approved by Manly Men}

Mantacular Homemade Granola Bars {approved by Manly Men}

My hubby has been away for the past five days riding his 4-wheeler in the mountains of Kentucky.  I have no doubt that there’s been an ungodly amount of farting, burping, grunting and other blatant displays of manhood going on down in those parts. It’s a little scary what can happen when 8 grown men assemble in the hills where… Read More

Our Bedroom Makeover

Our Bedroom Makeover

Well, we finally did it, people. We built a bedframe.  And a headboard.  And slapped a mattress on it.  Voila! Houston, we have a real, genu-wine bed! After upgrading from a queen mattress to a king – oh, you know…a year ago – we decided we wanted to build our frame.  Or rather, I decided – due to the ridiculous… Read More

Homemade Laundry Softener

Homemade Laundry Softener

I feel morally obligated to tell you about this stuff, and how easy and cheap it is to throw together. I just can’t bear to pay $6 for a small bottle of lavender bounty any longer, no matter how wickedly delicious it smells. Recipes like this have been floating around on Pinterest for some time now, and with a new… Read More

2013 : The Lost Art of Sacrifice

I realize this renders me a freak of nature, but I really like Mondays.  Less freakish is my adoration of the new year. You see, I love new beginnings. I live for fresh starts. Do-overs rock my socks off. And my muffin-top, if done correctly. My hubby thinks I am a dork {albeit a “cute” one} and is not a… Read More

Happy {Homemade} Christmas

It occurred to me last month, as Christmas crept sneakily toward us, that my desire to actually attempt some of the smashing homespun gift ideas I’d been pinning with passion, combined with my astounding ability to procrastinate, were a match made in hades. And then I promptly forgot that profound thought and continued on my way.  As is common for… Read More

{An even BETTER} Homemade Laundry Detergent

I stumbled upon a recipe for homemade laundry detergent back in 2010, made it, used it up and didn’t remake it.  Not because it wasn’t cheap, and not because making my own laundry detergent didn’t make me feel like I should wear some sort of a cape, but because I missed really good smelling clothes.  And the stain-fighting power of… Read More

5 Things That Help School Mornings Run Smoothly

While we’re still pretty new at this whole “kids in school” thing, I’ve already noticed a few things that make all the difference in how smoothly {and calmly…and happily} our mornings flow.  Thought you might want to know.  So here we go.  Yo yo!

P:31 & Responsibility Chart {Printable}

  Well, my friends, my 31 days are officially up tomorrow…and at this point I’ve made it through 27 of the 31 “spaces”.  While the perfectionist in me is tempted to be disappointed, the considerably larger portion of me that has grown to be more realistic amidst the chaos of parenting… is quite thrilled, actually. {knuckle bumps} While there is… Read More

It is finally here: the first day of our purging project…hip hip hooray! Thank you for all your encouragement and excitement.  It really delights my heart to know that I’ve struck a cord with a few of you with this wild endeavor, and can’t wait to see what we accomplish, as a group, in our own homes, across the globe… Read More

Easter reminds us that the tomb is empty. But befo Easter reminds us that the tomb is empty.
But before the resurrection, there was a towel.

In John 13, just hours before the cross,
Jesus doesn’t assert power, He kneels.
He washes the feet of Peter.
He washes the feet of Judas.
He loves them to the end.

🎙️ Episode 017 | The Jesus Way is live.

What does it look like to choose love in the middle
of betrayal, grief, disagreement, and struggle?
The way of Jesus isn’t flashy.
 It’s faithful.

So very thankful for the life that came from his d So very thankful for the life
that came from his death.

May you know how wildly, wholly
and wonderfully you are loved…

“This is how much God loved the world:
He gave his Son, his one and only Son.
And this is why: so that no one need be
destroyed; by believing in him, anyone
can have a whole and lasting life.
God didn’t go to all the trouble of
sending his Son merely to point an
accusing finger, telling the world
how bad it was. He came to help,
to put the world right again.”

Boundaries are not the opposite of love. They are Boundaries are not the opposite of love.
They are often the evidence of it.

Jesus touched lepers.
He wept with friends.
He restored the broken.

But He also corrected boldly.
He withdrew intentionally.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.

You can forgive someone
without restoring immediate proximity.
You can love someone
without giving them full access to your life.

Love does not require unlimited access. In Episod Love does not require unlimited access.

In Episode 016 of Oh, Good Grief, we explore what Jesus
actually modeled when it comes to boundaries.

He loved everyone.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.
He was full of grace and truth.
He welcomed the crowds, but confided in the few.

In a world that demands access to our time, energy, and heart, this episode unpacks what it looks like to forgive without naivety, love without losing discernment, and practice grace with guardrails.

Healing after betrayal isn’t linear. It’s messy. Healing after betrayal isn’t linear.

It’s messy.
It’s exhausting.
And sometimes it feels impossible.

In this conversation, Lisa Devine shares what it actually looked like to rebuild a marriage after infidelity: the boundaries, the brutal honesty, the forgiveness that had to be chosen again and again.

But more than anything,
it’s a story about the quiet ways God shows up
when everything feels shattered.
