My Sweet “t” on Day 2

I love behaving myself {in the sugar department, that is}.  It just makes me feel more alive and in control {you know, of the miniscule parts of my life that I actually have control over}.  Day 2 went well.  Just 98 to go.  Sheesh. Took the kiddos for a walk today.  Tomorrow I’m breaking out my 6 pound hula hoop. … Read More

Lansing Lovies

Our morning was full to the brim with love. Oh, and bubbles…   a cute boy{friend}… smiles {and smirks}… awfully cute {wet} kids… freedom {to remain cereal splattered}… delightful expressions…      sweetness…and sabotage… twinkling eyes {and fabulous little teeth!}… hesitance…   and warm remembrance… adorable toothy grins… contemplative poses, and an age-in-fingers display for good measure.   Oh, how we… Read More

Handle{d} with Care

Some people just amaze me.  In a really good way. Like this friend of mine, let’s call her Dr. Banana. I met her 8 years ago at a girls bible study I attended before I got married {the same group I helped lead for several years after that}. She’s the kind of girl who tells the most hilarious {true} stories,… Read More

Farewell Mommy Mafia

Judgment.  Doesn’t the feeling of the word in your mouth just make your tongue swell? Judging.  Judgmental. However you say it, when coming from one human to another, based on flawed perception, it wreaks havoc. Dishing it out, like we so easily do {especially as Christians, you know it’s true!}, may deliver a temporary sense of superiority or achievement, but… Read More

She.

I have a friend who is like a fresh breeze.  Her transparency, authenticity and strength of character bless my heart with every sweet encounter. She is a phenomenally lovely woman, inside and out. I met this precious friend when our daughters were just wee little ones, walking down our street.  We soon discovered that we had lived near each other,… Read More

The enemy tempts us. Then shame convinces us to hi The enemy tempts us.
Then shame convinces us to hide.

But God’s first response to human failure wasn’t condemnation.
It was a question: "Where are you?"
Not because He didn’t know.
But because healing requires that we name where we are,
and freedom comes as we choose to bravely step out of hiding.

Why do we hide? Often it starts with something sma Why do we hide?
Often it starts with something small,
a moment of humiliation, rejection, or exposure.
And over time we learn how to protect ourselves.
We perform. We blend in. We build armor.

But long before any of our stories began,
God asked the first humans a question
that still echoes today: "Where are you?"

In this episode, I share a story from growing up in Namibia and explore the quiet ways shame can shape our lives, and the courageous invitation God extends to step out of hiding.
