This Little Piggy

I’m quite positive that the only thing cuter than a wee little boy in Christmas jammies {in early September}, eating animal crackers {and my camera lens cover}, while laughing at his daddy…   is the little piggy belonging to this little boy, sticking out of said {prematurely seasonal} jammies while devouring aforementioned crackers.  Gives a […]

Going Tropical One Last Time

As the warm days of summer begin to fade and the chilly Autumn breeze stirs up thoughts of hot cider and pumpkin pie…I’m in denial over here in my deck chair, thinking happy thoughts of Key Lime Pie and Pina Colada Fruit Dip. *Notice I said “thinking”…not “eating”.  Both were fixed for our birthday bash […]

My Doh-Called Life

I realize a little more each day that passes on this rollercoaster of parenting, just how little motherhood looks the way I thought it would. I envisioned it as hard work, “colorful” and unpredictable, yes, but for some reason, I also imagined it being…well, somewhat “controllable” and, uh…neatly packaged?  Like little balls of play-doh, sweetly […]

Benadryl is My Friend

Alternately entitled: “Can I Get a Sick Day All Up in Here?” My kiddos are sick. And their {poor, exhausted, mucous-streaked} momma is sick too. It ain’t pretty. The past 2 days have consisted of more snot than you could ever imagine wiping from 4 rosy little nostrils, less sleep than any human being should […]

Making the Cut

It’s been a day of trimming around here. It started with lots of {dirty} little nails. And was followed by impromptu taming of the curl chaos that is my daughter’s head… While I’m always hesitant to lop off any of my daughter’s gorgeous curls {and have only mustered up the courage to do so one […]

Gone Fishing

Cricket loves working on cars with her daddy.  She also happens to love climbing trees and collecting bugs.  My girly-girl.  Go figure. So it was no surprise when she started expressing an interest in fishing, and acquiring a little fishing pole of her very own. When she turned 3, my hubby’s grandparents fulfilled that wish. […]

1 Year Ago Today…

we heard the words Supraventricular Tachycardia for the very first time. Today, it’s simply a part of our daily lives.  A hiccup, not a sentence. Often the moments that cause us to appreciate life and treasure our loved ones most fiercely are the ones when we feel like everything is being taken away. 1 year […]

to release control over what others think, say, or do.
But freedom deepens when we also learn to let Him,
to trust God with what we were never meant to carry.

We spend so much of life celebrating spring, the n We spend so much of life celebrating spring,
the new, the young, the beginning.

But autumn carries a glory of its own.

The turning leaves don’t apologize for their season.
They burn brighter because of it.

This is their Prime Time.

There is no expiration date on purpose.
No age limit on transformation.
No season where God stops inviting us deeper.

If there is breath in your lungs,
God is not done with you yet.

Some seasons ask more of us than we ever thought w Some seasons ask more of us than we ever thought we could give.

This week on Oh, Good Grief, my mom and I continue our conversation - this time about courage, caregiving, and walking through the wilderness of illness without losing hope.

We talk about my dad’s cancer, the sacred weight of loving someone through suffering, and the quiet strength that emerges when faith is no longer theoretical, it’s necessary.

There is a kind of courage that doesn’t look flashy.
It looks like staying. Trusting. Loving anyway.

There is something sacred about watching someone r There is something sacred about watching
someone refuse to stop growing.

My mom has spent her life pursuing freedom, truth,
and deeper intimacy with God - not perfectly, but faithfully.

She reminds me that formation doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens through ordinary days, unexpected detours,
and quiet obedience.

We don’t become who we’re meant to be overnight.
We become, slowly, as we trust Him with our story.

don’t just preach grace, they live it.

This week on Oh, Good Grief, I’m joined by my beautiful momma for Part 1 of a two-part conversation.

She has stood on stages, taught Scripture, and poured her life into others for decades - but more than anything, she has embodied a faith that keeps growing, keeps trusting, and keeps saying yes to God’s invitation into deeper freedom.

We talk about failure, formation, leaving home and finding it again,
and the quiet ways God builds a life across continents and decades.

Her story has shaped mine in more ways than I can count.
