{Unedited} Snapshots of the Caribbean

My hubby and I just returned late Sunday night from an incredible week away in celebration of our 10th anniversary…and while I won’t bore you with jealousy-evoking details of swimming with turtles, gloriously unnecessary naps, and the fact that I only gained 5 pounds after devouring enough food to feed a small country – chased […]

10 Things We’ve Learned in 10 Years of Marriage

Tomorrow we will have officially been married for 87,360 hours. Also known as the less-enormous-sounding ‘10 years’ {insert wild applause here}. A whole decade, people. I know, right? Ten full years for wee punks like us. Who knew? No, we weren’t 14. We were 22 The past ten years have been the most beautiful, most […]

Crop that Photo

Some people say editing photos is unnecessary. I say, “Hallelujah!”.  Bring.it.on! Because the ability to crop photos is a gift from God.  Right up there with sunsets.  And caffeine. Allow me to explain: You can have this on your wall… Or this: Enough said. Note to self: buy Bean bigger, more wedgie-proof jeans.

‘Drab to Fab’ Office Chair Makeover

I recently discovered the wonders of our local Habitat for Humanity Restore, and it makes my heart beat wildly.  Used doors and vases and chairs, oh my!  And for killer prices, none the less I picked up some ugly, old office chairs for $5 a piece a couple of months ago with the intention of […]

Sweet Girl {plus Printable}

Looking through photos from little Bean’s recital in June, I realized how much like a weed she has grown.  She’s looking less and less like a wee lass and more and more like a little lady every day. She’s blossoming and maturing, her cheeks and belly are losing their plumpness, and her little hands are […]

Mantacular Homemade Granola Bars {approved by Manly Men}

My hubby has been away for the past five days riding his 4-wheeler in the mountains of Kentucky.  I have no doubt that there’s been an ungodly amount of farting, burping, grunting and other blatant displays of manhood going on down in those parts. It’s a little scary what can happen when 8 grown men […]

When You Feel Like A Train Wreck {Hope For The Weary Mom}

To the mom who is weary and overwhelmed, painfully aware of her short fuse and tired of the sound of her own voice… I get it. I’ve become really good at saying, “I’m sorry” since becoming a mom. Learn to embrace grace.  This is one of the most important things you can model for your […]

Our Bedroom Makeover

Well, we finally did it, people. We built a bedframe.  And a headboard.  And slapped a mattress on it.  Voila! Houston, we have a real, genu-wine bed! After upgrading from a queen mattress to a king – oh, you know…a year ago – we decided we wanted to build our frame.  Or rather, I decided […]

The ‘Muy Bien’ Fund : Fundraising Printable {and how YOU can help}

So this week’s printable is a bit of an odd ball.  It involves a leg, money and language barriers. Let me explain. When we first moved to the US, I was a freshman in high school and had absolutely no grasp of the “Spanish” language.  After all, isn’t that what they speak in Spain?  And […]

The enemy may wound. But he doesn't get to write t The enemy may wound.
But he doesn't get to write the ending.

Morgan's story includes abuse, betrayal, fear, and years of healing.

Yet today she spends her life loving vulnerable children, opening her home to foster kids, and building a family rooted in grace.

What could have broken her became
the very place God planted compassion.
That's redemption.
Not erasing the wound.
Not pretending it didn't happen.

But allowing God to grow something beautiful from what was meant to destroy.

Some stories are painful to tell. And some stories Some stories are painful to tell.
And some stories need to be told anyway.

This week on Oh, Good Grief, I'm joined by the lovely Morgan Brailley, a survivor, foster mama, adoptive mom, and living testimony to God's redemptive love.

Morgan shares her journey through abuse, trauma, healing, foster care, and the unexpected ways God can bring beauty from the deepest wounds.

This conversation is honest.
Tender. Hard.
And full of hope.

Because trauma may shape us,
but it does not get the final word.

Grace and truth were never enemies in the life of Grace and truth
were never enemies in the life of Jesus.

He told the woman caught in adultery:
“Neither do I condemn you…
go and leave your life of sin.”

Mercy.
And honesty.
Together.

This week’s episode is about the rocks we carry—the anger, bitterness, judgment, and wounds we keep rehearsing long after the moment has passed.

Because sometimes the thing crushing our soul…
is the stone we refuse to put down.

Some wounds don’t leave us angry because they were Some wounds don’t leave us angry
because they were the worst thing that happened to us.
Sometimes they stay because they were the moment someone
stood close enough to see our pain… and still did nothing.

This week on the podcast, I’m talking about the rocks we carry—judgment, resentment, bitterness, offense—and the quiet ways they shape our souls over time.

This episode is deeply personal. Tender. Honest.

It’s refusing to let the wound become your identity.”

This week on the podcast, Dr. Ansonya Burke and I talk about forgiveness, leadership, emotional healing, and the sacred process of becoming whole after hard seasons.

There’s so much wisdom in this one.
Especially for the people quietly carrying more than anyone knows.

Some relationships fracture.
Some seasons unravel us completely.

But grace still has a way of writing beautiful endings.

In this deeply honest conversation, my dear friend Dr. Ansonya Burke shares about healing, forgiveness, wholeness, and learning how to release what no longer belongs in your hands.

This episode is tender, wise, and full of the kind of truth that only comes from walking through fire and finding God faithful in it.
