The Studio Makeover

11156999_10155494014670451_687830878_n

I know, I know.  It’s been almost 3 million years since I first teased you with pictures of dirt and concrete and paint.  Okay, maybe just 4 months.  But it feels like forever since we dug up the dirt around the building to install drainage tile and get the studio makeover rolling, and I’m sure you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat for “after photos”, unable to sleep or eat.

Forgive me.  In lieu of sack-cloth and ashes, could we do tea and marmite?

It’s not that I haven’t been giddy at the thought of inviting you in, or delirious with joy over this whole office upgrade, it’s just that…well.  The perfectionist in me always sees one. more. thing I can do before bringing you over the threshold and into this sweet new “bloom room”.

One more box to unpack, one more thing to fix or tweak.  One more surface to clear.

And then of course the crafty chick in me is ever dreaming up creative ways to fill the space. 11148902_10155494014465451_481659525_n And it’s taking everything in me to keep these freshly patched and painted walls uncluttered.  It’s exhausting and exhilarating at the same time.

There are all those perfect photos I wanted to stage and capture and edit, and clever video tours I wanted to record.

And, and, and.

And then it dawned on me.  If I wait until everything is just right, or just so, and all the stars have aligned…you may NEVER see inside.

It will always be a work in progress because this mind of mine never stops churning out new projects to start (which means I have several unfinished ones laying around) and fresh ways to play with this space.

So, without further ado…

For your viewing pleasure, I present the little BEFORE video I snapped on my phone in December…

So…welcome, friends.

Welcome!

Step into the Simply Bloom studio for a whirlwind tour.

After

And for kicks and giggles, here’s the totally random, awkward video I shot with my phone today, complete with elevator music and abrupt ending.

Because it was now or never, friends.  Now or never.

There are so many fun projects in here, guys…like the shim mirror and the chalk-painted dressers, and the pallet sign, and the string-art Michigan.  And printables.  And SB swag experiments.  And garage sale finds and thrift store treasures and curbside redos.

And sweet gifts from friends.  Memories wrapped up in jars and wire, up on walls, some tucked away safely in drawers.

And there’s that fabulously tacky bamboo screen I “borrowed” from my baby sister while she’s in China.  Yes, that.

It’s all in here, folks.  And it’s one of my favorite places to be on the planet.

Easter reminds us that the tomb is empty. But befo Easter reminds us that the tomb is empty.
But before the resurrection, there was a towel.

In John 13, just hours before the cross,
Jesus doesn’t assert power, He kneels.
He washes the feet of Peter.
He washes the feet of Judas.
He loves them to the end.

🎙️ Episode 017 | The Jesus Way is live.

What does it look like to choose love in the middle
of betrayal, grief, disagreement, and struggle?
The way of Jesus isn’t flashy.
 It’s faithful.

So very thankful for the life that came from his d So very thankful for the life
that came from his death.

May you know how wildly, wholly
and wonderfully you are loved…

“This is how much God loved the world:
He gave his Son, his one and only Son.
And this is why: so that no one need be
destroyed; by believing in him, anyone
can have a whole and lasting life.
God didn’t go to all the trouble of
sending his Son merely to point an
accusing finger, telling the world
how bad it was. He came to help,
to put the world right again.”

Boundaries are not the opposite of love. They are Boundaries are not the opposite of love.
They are often the evidence of it.

Jesus touched lepers.
He wept with friends.
He restored the broken.

But He also corrected boldly.
He withdrew intentionally.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.

You can forgive someone
without restoring immediate proximity.
You can love someone
without giving them full access to your life.

Love does not require unlimited access. In Episod Love does not require unlimited access.

In Episode 016 of Oh, Good Grief, we explore what Jesus
actually modeled when it comes to boundaries.

He loved everyone.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.
He was full of grace and truth.
He welcomed the crowds, but confided in the few.

In a world that demands access to our time, energy, and heart, this episode unpacks what it looks like to forgive without naivety, love without losing discernment, and practice grace with guardrails.

Healing after betrayal isn’t linear. It’s messy. Healing after betrayal isn’t linear.

It’s messy.
It’s exhausting.
And sometimes it feels impossible.

In this conversation, Lisa Devine shares what it actually looked like to rebuild a marriage after infidelity: the boundaries, the brutal honesty, the forgiveness that had to be chosen again and again.

But more than anything,
it’s a story about the quiet ways God shows up
when everything feels shattered.
