If Santa Had A Picky Palate

…even he would like these cookies.  They’re fantasmigorical.

Everything Cookies

We consider these babies ‘Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies’, but their stage name is in fact, “Everything Cookies”.  Because, as the name implies, you can put literally everything into them.  Except, maybe, the kitchen sink.  And ground beef.

Or something.

Thanks to the sweet momma of this little babe for sharing the recipe with us {and allowing us, upon discovering their freshly-baked existence on her kitchen counter, to take a healthy portion off her hands}:

Everything Cookies

      • 1/2 cup of white sugar
      • 1 cup of brown sugar
      • 1 cup of flour {I did 1/2 cup white and 1/2 cup whole wheat}
      • 1 teaspoon of salt
      • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
      • 3 cups of oatmeal {I used old fashioned}
      • 3/4 cup of butter
      • 1 egg
      • 1/3 cup of peanut butter {I use natural}
      • 1/4 cup of water
      • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
      • 1 cup of chocolate chips
      • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts {pecans, walnuts, almonds}
      • “Everything”: coconut, dried fruit, applesauce, wheat germ, flax seeds, etc.

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350*
  • In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients {through oatmeal}
  • In a medium bowl, combine melted butter, egg {lightly beaten}, peanut butter, water and vanilla.
  • Add wet to dry, mixing until evenly moist
  • Fold in chocolate chips and nuts {and anything else your little heart desires}
  • Spoon onto a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes

Even the most discerning large, old man in red would approve of these suckers!

But seeing we don’t really do the “Santa thing” around here – and would hate for these amazing cookies to just sit out, unloved – we left them for the elves {ahem}.

Boundaries are not the opposite of love. They are Boundaries are not the opposite of love.
They are often the evidence of it.

Jesus touched lepers.
He wept with friends.
He restored the broken.

But He also corrected boldly.
He withdrew intentionally.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.

You can forgive someone
without restoring immediate proximity.
You can love someone
without giving them full access to your life.

Love does not require unlimited access. In Episod Love does not require unlimited access.

In Episode 016 of Oh, Good Grief, we explore what Jesus
actually modeled when it comes to boundaries.

He loved everyone.
He did not entrust Himself to everyone.
He was full of grace and truth.
He welcomed the crowds, but confided in the few.

In a world that demands access to our time, energy, and heart, this episode unpacks what it looks like to forgive without naivety, love without losing discernment, and practice grace with guardrails.

Healing after betrayal isn’t linear. It’s messy. Healing after betrayal isn’t linear.

It’s messy.
It’s exhausting.
And sometimes it feels impossible.

In this conversation, Lisa Devine shares what it actually looked like to rebuild a marriage after infidelity: the boundaries, the brutal honesty, the forgiveness that had to be chosen again and again.

But more than anything,
it’s a story about the quiet ways God shows up
when everything feels shattered.

but it doesn’t get the final word.

In this week's episode of Oh, Good Grief, Lisa Devine shares the raw and redemptive story of walking through infidelity, despair, forgiveness, and the slow rebuilding of trust.

Let them choose. Let them talk. Let them walk thei Let them choose.
Let them talk.
Let them walk their own path.

And then...
let Him heal.
Let Him redeem.
Let Him finish what He started.

Trust doesn’t remove the hard,
but it does change how we carry it.

Your job is stay rooted in the only One
who will hold you steady through the storm.
